what is your favorite drama series of her? and why
January 23 2005 at 11:36 AM No score for this post
michelle's fan (no login) from IP address 152.163.100.132
my favorite drama series of her would be mostly atv 1980's productions when she was young and pretty in good dramas such as
1. dynasty I
2. the tai chi master I
3. princess cheung ping
I am so disappointed that the sequel dynasty II didn't have her in it but continue to have the leading actor alex man tze leung in it as the son in the leading role. I think michelle should be selected to played other different role like the leading actor playing other different role.
how about michelle playing the daughter of the storyline character lui,say-leung and bai,tie-kuo?
I am very disappointed to heard atv is going to do a remake of dynasty I with inappropriate leading casts (joey meng yee man as the leading role--lui,say-leung and steve ma king-tao is going to be cast in alex man's former role as the duke) & supporting casts.
I wish atv would not do a remake of dynasty I since they did NOT find the appropriate leading casts and the storyline is getting boring & stale because there are many dramas produced with the SAME storyline characters & SIMILIAR storyline. I wish atv would produce other dramas of OTHER historical figures and in a DIFFERENT time period than the manchu Qing dynasty since there are already too many dramas based on the Qing dynasty.
I wish they would produce other DIFFERENT dramas based on other historical figures of other ancient time period such as the beginning and/or fall of ming dynasty or yuan dynasty or after the tang dynasty.

haha... this is really a good question to ask...
erm, My favourite drama will be:
1) Legend Of A Beauty
2) The Taiji Master 1
3) King Of Gambler
basically, there's reason for these choices... Legend Of A beauty was the first serial I got to know Michelle, and I was stunned by her excellent actings. Perhaps I was young at that time, I have no idea on who she is. However, she had further proven me that she wasn't depend on her beauty but fabulous actings (which most actress did, who have the beauty but not the actings) when she acted in Taiji Master.
As for the King Of Gambler, this is my 2nd serial I got to know her. I've always considered myself as the expert of drama, and there's no artiste who can really attract my attention. However, after watching the King Of Gambler,an actress proved my statement wrong, and she was the only one who allures me. Really, I'm not joking. I think you already know who she is.
What if I ask, " which is your loathed drama of her?" what would be your answer???
I hope u guys don't bash me up.. haha, I have some in mind..

i have a few ... may i? legend of a beauty was the first show i saw her in and i love it for that sentimental reason, and for the fact that her character was so noble and so wronged, heh. otherwise it's not really that good ... princess cheung ping is my all time favourite, because her performance was so completely amazing and because the story seemed a little better than most, intricately plotted and full of quiet excitement. and david jiang was in it ...
i like laugh in the sleeve because, again, i really admired her twin performances, especially that fragile innocent fengxi. and also that was when she and liu songren looked especially good together, heh. oh, if for that reason -- shadow swordsman too. dynasty ... excellent serial. needs no introduction.
and for short appearances -- nothing can beat her in the snow is red, though i think yin susu runs very close behind ...
which didn't i like? hmm. there are rather more than one would have thought possible! zhuge liang was execrable. to tell the truth -- don't lynch me! -- i didn't much like taiji master either. tiger hill trail was confusing, and fatherland -- radical city was plain bad. i'll stop here, before i list all the serials i've ever watched, but looking at the way i rank i think it's less a problem of whether or not her character was likeable, or even whether she had a large role, but whether a) she had anything to do (hence memory lane is out, though she was nice in it) and b) whether the whole thing was enjoyable.
hey ... no one's said anything about serials that you didn't like. come on ... 'fess up

Questions & comments & drama series I dislike of her

I didn't get a chance to watch 'the bond of friendship'
---what production is it from--atv, taiwan, singapore and the production year?
----is it ancient or modern series?
---who are the leading casts besides michelle & lau,chung-yan?
---what's the storyline?
It seem that michelle & daiman lau chung yan is usually being casted as a couple for many series together than she is with other co-star actors.
I wished michelle gets to be casted as a couple with OTHER CO-STAR ACTORS BESIDES lau,chung-yan which she was young such as
1. david chiang dai wai
2. wong, yuen-sun
3. alex man tze-leung
4. kenny ho ka-king
5. ng,wai-kwok
6. cheung, wai-kwok ----I am unsure is that the name of the supporting actor in 'venture against time' where he played as her boyfriend.
****what do you think?
drama series I dislike of her are
1. legendary prime minister zhu ge liang----->her character role & the heavy makeup makes her look old & not good-looking according to her beauty character role.
2. fatherland radical city-----the storyline its boring, she is pretty & cute in here but I dislike her paired up with poon, chi man as a couple.
3. return to the truth-----I also dislike her bad materialistic character role in there and on the vhs cover & it real life---I think michelle & kong wah appear more like a couple and their age is around the same.

mm... let me think!
1) Tigerhill Trail --> first thing come to my mind - dull and boring! Got tired after watching the epsiode 1. Why are they so uncivilised? Being easily provoked to fight! Some more, does fighting can really solve problems?
2) Bond Of Friendship --> though Michells is stunning here, her partnership with Damien Lau is awful. Why is she so foolish to suffer so much for HIM? Better off dead if I were to sacrifice for HIM Grr~
3) Return To The Truth --> portray her role as a materialistic woman. Can't accept the fact that she had become the mother of Kong Wah. AND she died tragically in the end.

oh .. she died? oh no. how? why? i remember the beginning but not the end ... i must have stopped watching it ...
i remember her in a while quilted silky dressing gown, with a man in a mustache, thanking him for taking care of her. mm. what happened after/around that? ...

She was murdered by her youngest son, Jackie Lui. She was pushed down the balcony.
That man in a mustache is Lau Dan, her lover (she married to him in later part)... I've forgotten part of the story now, but I promise to tell/type it after I've finished watching. Though I've bought this serial for quite long, I haven't had a chance to watch it. Because I'm too busy recently, and I'm watching your pingzong currently. ^_^

mm, actually, I just watched Michelle's part throughout the whole show. That's where the story most exciting and stirring! Michelle is stunning. Here's some screenshots of her:

If you explore this site a bit you'll find I like both (: I think the slowness is rather charming, and in any case can always be tackled with the fast forward button. After all, when they had fifty episodes (57 for Dynasty!) to play about with I think they wanted to focus on character development etc.? Also they spoke very slowly -- it adds to the formality of the whole thing, but it can be annoying to the modern ear. For me it was great -- my cantonese is barely existent and the speed allowed me to understand a good deal more than usual ... (:

rely to your posting of 'dynasty I' atv's 1980's version

I have purchased mainland china's released vcds boxset of dynasty I and I remembered there was one disc which only have dubbed-mandarin language instead of dual audio languages of its orginial cantonese language & dubbed-mandarin language.
There is other released vcd boxset of 'dynasty I' by a different distributor-manufactor called 'ASIAVIEW ENTERTAINMENT' in the US of the US version which is much more expensive but it also have dual audio language versions containing its original cantonese language & dubbed-mandarin language.
I wish asiaview entertainment would release more rare atv good oldies productions of the 1980's & 1990's.
I am interested in watching the atv drama series in its original cantonese language such as:
1. THE CHRONICLES OF THE SHADOW SWORDSMAN
2. LOVE IN THE LEGAL WEB
3. THE FOUR DETECTIVES
4. THE GREEN DRAGON CONSPIRACY
***to answer your question, alex man's character is suppose to be a half-baddie man since during the ancient Qing dynasty---all chinese men are suppose to have shaved-half-balded with a long pigtail.
Alex man appears more mature & cunning type in 'dynasty I' and he appears different in 'tai chi master I' like a young gentleman.

I like Legend of Condor Heroes. The original version and real classic although shooting in studio. I am so impressed by her young charming & intellectual charactor.
Has anyone ever watched it before? I am wondering why nobody has voted for this series so far???
If there is a VCD box set of this series, please immediately let me know. I will buy no matter how much it is.

What is the serial Legend of a Beauty and Bond of Love about? Who stars in them?
Did anyone know where I can rent or buy Legend of the COndor Heroes, etc with her in it? I've heard about it, but can't seem to find anyone who has it for rent or for sale?
She is my all time favorite actress.

the short answer to your question is, there isn't a vcd version of that out. there just isn't, it's too old. this is a list of vcd sets of her series that are out:
you probably know of these; it seems pretty much all i've seen out, online and in actual stores. except legend of a beauty of course, and bond of friendship; i'll answer your questions about those another day. good to see you (: see you again soon!

it would have to be princess chang ping, why? it's the only old series of her's that i saw where she was main lead. i wasn't born when she was popular.
she's younger then my mum by a year.
i loved chang ping so much, she's so smart and elegant and...and...just so great. i watched the remake with Charmain sheh in her role and i hated charmain for ruining the character.

me too! hee. that is exactly how i keep track of her age, i figure out how old my mum is and then i take away one!
my mum says she is a fan too, but i killed her affection by being born (i'm old, yes. older than you.) and making her too busy to watch all her serials on tv. i was extremely apologetic when i heard that and try to share all new mi xue experiences with her.

I think I have another favourite drama in mind now! It's Into Thin Air!
Well, Michelle may only appear in few scenes, however, I shall say that her acting is fabulous! It's even better than the 2 female leads of the show! I simply find the scene at the church unforgettable - the part where she appeared as a spirit, playing piano with her son! Gosh! What should I say? It's so nice and sad but touching! A rather sad story with a character full of challenges! It is not an easy job to play the role well, let alone to capture audience's heart! Well, Michelle didn't disappoint us. She did a very good job. Indeed, it stay rooted in my memory (even months later!). I will never forget how noble a mother is!
I remember I had a flu that time and was on recovering phase. However, after watching the scene where Michelle passed away and donated her eyes to her son, gosh, I cried and cried. And my flu got worse instead, even until now, I'm still suffering from this bad flu! Sad to say that I even rewind and watched that part again and again... *Serves me right for getting this bad flu!*
Ever wonder why such a beuatiful smile would appear in this world? It is most likely from a guardian angel!!

actually i love that scene... except for that part which i think patrick looks like he doesn't know a thing about playing piano, i think it looks quite fake when patrick just started playing... -_-" but michelle's tooooooooooo gorgeous to deny!!! lol

well, based on the votelet, Princess Cheung Ping got the most votes... But I simply don't really like this drama series. Although she is stunning and gorgeous in there, I just find the show boring. If I were asked to choose again, my vote will either go to Chronicle of The Shadow Swordman or Love Between The Legal Web. They are soooo sweet in LBTLW, find it unbelievable that they aren't real lovers once u watched it~

obviously -- am here to defend what i still think is one of the best things she's done. i love princess cheung ping, but i shall spare you the rehearsal of why.
and also -- deeply envious of all who've watched LBTLW. shall meekly, hopefully, wait for the vcds.

Thank you for this website. Really great to see Michelle Yim pics and video clips. Incidentally I am also a Michelle Yim fan and was searching for video clips of her old tvb series when i came across this site.. Anyway anyone happen to have the complete set of the tvb series titled "Love between the legal web" and "Chronicles of the Shadow Swordsman"?.. ..
If u have, is there any chances of posting some more clips of these 2 series on youtube.?. Thanks.. Or do you know of any sites where i can purchase these 2 titles on vcds? I only want the cantonese version.
Hmm my vote would be
Shadow Swordsman.. I think she is a very versatile actress and can perform any role to perfection. . I particularly like to watch her co star with damian lau.. These 2 actors just look so good together and also they bring their roles to life..
