What Doctors Don’t Tell You About Tubal Ligation

I'm so glad I have the internet! I'm truly saddened for all the ladies who had this procedure done without prior knowledge of the possible dangers.
I have 4 children and after researching all b/c options I had decided that tubal ligation was my best choice because I wanted something long term or permanant without all the side effects of the pill or depo shots. I didn't even bother to do any research on the ligation because I've always been told it was simple and safe.
My appt to have the procedure done 3 days from now is going to be cancelled first thing Monday morning. I really like my doctor, he's a very nice and caring guy, but he never discussed anything with me about possible problems or complications. In fact, there was no post surgery talk at all, just what to do in preparation and about the actual procedure itself. I'm glad I got a little nervous about having surgery and decided to come on here and do a little research. I was really just wanting to find out exactly how the surgery was done and if there were any risks of the surgery itself...and this is what I find.
My mother had a tubal 25 years ago when my youngest brother was born. She never mentioned to me any side effects that happened afterwards, but I'm thinking now that she just wasn't aware of what caused her problems. My mom was very active and extremely skinny up until my bro was born. I was 3 at the time and for as long as I can remember since then, my mom has been largely overweight (300lbs) and was always tired and sleeping. She had occasional bouts of depression too. Im going to call her right now and tell her all the info that I've found.
Since having my fourth child in march, I've had a lot of these same symptoms..mood swings, irritability, anger, confusion, forgetfulness, aching joints. I'm sure it's because of hormonal instability because I havent started menstruation again yet. I definitely don't need them compounded and worsened by this surgery.
My husband spent about 2 minutes reading some of this stuff and said he'd call to cancel the surgery himself.
