To sum up the article, Dr. Joel Heller, who is the medical director of Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group's OB/GYN practice in Chicago stated that
1. Post-tubal syndrome "is an urban legend”
2. "No documentation supports (post tubal syndrome)”
3. “Anytime you operate, there's the possibility of post surgical pain from scar tissue and adhesions."
4. Tubal sterilization can't bring on menopause - unless a rare complication causes blood flow to the ovaries to decrease
The article also quoted Dr. Amy E. Pollack, obstetrician/gynecologist and president of EngenderHealth, a New York-based non-profit organization that provides information and training in family planning and maternal and child health.
