I found this site through the WmnsHormones group at Yahoo.
I am 39 year old wife and mother. I had a TL 16 years ago after my son was born. I was 22 years old. The doctor told me I was too young and may want more children. I firmly told him I had had four pregnancies, I had a girl and now a boy, I have the best of both worlds and I was done.
I was never told about side effects as there were none to tell.
About 12 years ago I started to get hotflashes when I went to bed, and then more often at period time. My family DR. said it was from lack of blood supply from my ovaries and to take some asprin, that this would thin the blood and help. And it did for a little while.
My symptoms are now... Hotflashes, Migraines, night sweats, anxiety attacks, decreased sex drive (Zero sex drive), vaginal dryness, pain during sex, IBS with consitipation, bloating!!! Etc... And ruining my marriage!
I have been complaining to Dr's for years about my symptoms.
They say I am too young for menopause, my hormones are fine, NO, it's not from the TL.
I am sick to death of this &*&^%% ! I felt like I was crazy for years! Feeling alone and depressed! But always knowing these symptoms had to be from the TL.
I believe we should create a class action suit.
Even if we get nothing ($) It would bring it to the publics attention. Dr's may have to start informing woman of the "side effects"!
If I had known I could possibly be an old woman before my time I would NOT have had the TL. I have told several woman not to go forward with a TL because of the possible side effects and because their Dr's say it is safe, they go forward with it!
This has to stop somewhere sometime! And that could be with us! We could make the difference for other woman. I don't want even my worst enemy going through what I am going through!
It's time they acknowledge the problems caused by TL surgery and inform woman. It is our right!
