What Doctors Don’t Tell You About Tubal Ligation

how to know

there is no easy answer to that. You would really have to go to a doctor and I think that they can preform another surgery to get to your tubes and do a die test to be sure that they are still blocked, and if the tubes are indeed blocked then that die test is all the more painful. They MIGHT be able to do that vaginally rather than surgically, but that would depend on your doctor's methods and the die test will still hurt.

A tubal ligation is effective immediately as opposed to a vasectomy. However, the risk for failure actually increases with time (the opposite is true of a vasectomy.) With a tubal, you are really expected to go on the assumption that 1) the surgery was successful and 2) your tubes do not come undone or rejoin at some point in the future. If you do become pregnant after having a tubal ligation, then you are likely going to have an ectopic pregnancy that will have to be surgically removed to save your life. So, most of the "tubal ligation failures" are not viable pregnancies. If you come up with a positive pregnancy test, please be seen by your GYN immediately to rule out a tubal pregnancy - this IS a matter of life and death.
