Before your reversal you should demand hormone testing to make sure you are not in menopause. A reversal is just putting the tubes back together. Not the blood supply or anything else that may be needed to correct PTS.
The reason you should make sure that you are not in menopause is because IF you are in menopause, then what’s the purpose of having a reversal? It is assumed by the reversal doctor that you are having a reversal to go on and possibly get pregnant. If your ovaries are not functioning, then a reversal will not allow you to go on and become pregnant.
Reversal doctors NEVER pre-test your hormone levels, most specifically your FSH levels. Why would a doctor do a reversal on a patient if it was known in advance she was in menopause? They just do the surgery.
Afterwards, women are told things such as, “I could only reconnect one tube because the other tube there wasn’t enough there…” when it truth it may be there was no reason to connect the tube because the doctor could see that the ovary was atrophic. Why would a doctor spend the time or effect to connect the tube if he knows that the ovary will not produce an egg? Women are NEVER told that they have one ovary that is not functioning. They are never given pictures of their ovaries at the time of a reversal, and never have ovarian biopsies done (which would not injure the ovary) to determine if the tissue if living or atrophic.
While some women after a reversal do go on and become pregnant, many don’t. After reversal surgeries doctors often give women a percentage “50% chance of getting pregnant”, or “20% chance of getting pregnant”. They would never say “0% of getting pregnant because both of your ovaries are not functioning, but this DOES happen.
Do the research. How many reversal doctors require FSH tests or other hormone tests be done before a reversal? You will find that it is NONE.
You do not want to go through the expense, time, pain and suffering of a reversal surgery to find out afterwards that you are in menopause. It’s much easier to find out before hand.
