Dr. Says it's because you've stopped taking the pill...
by
I'm pregnant with twins and have a 2 year old at home. Because I will probably have to have a c-section, I told my doc I wanted a TL, but when I came across this website, I explained that I changed my mind because I didn't want to take the risk of getting these horrible side effects. She claims that the reason people experience the severe pms type symptoms and the cramps, etc is because they were on the pill before the TL and once they have the procedure, they no longer take the pill which regulates periods.
I am wondering if anyone has heard this or found this to be true. With the pill, I have had normal periods, but without, I had terrible pms, cramping, mood swings, etc. My doc says some women take the pill after TL just to regulate these problems, but it seems like an aweful waste to me- if I'm going to have to take the pill anyway, why risk the surgery. She says that the TL is much easier to control with a c-section because they can see the tubes to cut, they don't use the cauterization method (which she claims causes most of the blood supply loss), and since I would already be open, it would be much safer and easier in the long run.
I had had my mind made up that I would not get the TL, but now she's convinced me otherwise (she also said her husband had pain for over a year from a vasectomy). I'm confused because the more I read this website, the more I doubt myself and my doc.
Please help me make up my mind- I'm scheduled for a c-section in FOUR days!!
