What Doctors Don’t Tell You About Tubal Ligation

Thank God I'm Not Crazy!

I have recently come across this site when I finally figured out that the hot flashes, chills, night sweats, mental fog and forgetfulness were not just from stress as I had previously thought. It came as a flash the other night when I got a really bad case of night sweats that were so bad, I literally pushed my husband, who was cuddling me in his sleep, off of me. I couldn't stand to have anything on my skin, I felt like I was broiling alive. The next morning, I remembered how my mother had suffered through these bouts as she went through perimenopause. I decided to e-mail her and ask her when she started. She stated that she didn't begin until her early forties, but my grandmother started in her early thirties. I decided to have a tubal ligation done when I was 29 years old because I had known from an early age that I didn't want children of my own. Looking back, I should have listened to what my body was trying to tell me. My cycles, which came and went monthly like clockwork, were irregular for six months after the procedure, and I was moody and feeling depressed all the time. I eventually went on Prozac, thinking it was the stresses of being newly married and trying to fit into my new role as stepmother for my husband's five sons. Eventually things seemed to go back on track for about a year, but four months ago, I began having hot flashes regularly. I still have my period, but the irregularity is coming back, so the amount of days between periods is beginning to change. I feel so tired and in a fog all day long. It has made life very difficult at times. Would I change what I did? I don't think so. I just wish that my doctor would have alerted me to the risks beforehand and helped me monitor them.
