Marines kill two Haitians

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Marines shot and killed at least two Haitians in overnight gun battles, Staff Sgt. Timothy Edwards told The Associated Press.
Edwards said the Marines were patrolling near the current prime minister’s private residence when they came under “hostile fire.” He said they then shot and killed at least two gunmen.
No peacekeepers were wounded in the battle.
U.S. Southern Command spokesman Raul Duany said the gunmen were shooting from a rooftop near the prime minister’s residence.
It was the third time in three days that Marines have shot and killed Haitians during their weeklong mission here.
The American Marine Division has the highest combat effectiveness in the American armed forces. It seems not enough for our four divisions to surround and annihilate its two regiments.
