Israel has through out the years been very influential in lobbying different countries and governments in preventing the official remembrance of the Armenian genocide!
There are two main reasons for this vigorous effort into the stopple of any official recognition of the massacre of the Armenians by the Ottoman Turks; the first reason is that they want to have monopoly over the term of Genocide, and keep the world’s attention solely on the suffering of the Jews during the second world war, the other reason for the denial of the genocide by Israel, is that Israel always tries to politically help out its strategic partners such as Turkey, as Turkey buys allot of weapons from Israel, and also shared anti Arab sentiments.
On many occasions in the past, speeches on Holocaust and genocides in Israel have been forces to cancel scheduled speeches on the Armenian genocide, due to pressure from the government in Tel Aviv, simply to keep the title of genocide exclusive for the Jews and to show Turkey that Israel is watching out for them!
In 1990, senator Robert Dole introduced a mild resolution commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Armenian Holocaust, however, the Israeli government successfully used its influence in the senate to drop the proposal, and to deny the Armenian victims of the genocide even slight recognition of their plight!
The Armenians also have not been the only group to have their suffering rejected at the hands of the Zionists; the Gypsies too have had their claims of suffering at the hand of the Nazis rejected by Israel! Many times in the past the Gypsy claim of the genocide of their people during the second world war, which is historically recognised, were rejected by pro Zionist writers, and their claims of repression has been likened to a “fantasy”! One wonder how the Jews would react if their claims of repression at the hands of the Nazis were likened to a fantasy!
