the Romans had an empire from Scotland to Egypt.
It included todays southern and western Europe, some Balkan regions, Palestine, northern Africa and todays Turkey...
What an emprire!
And Italy is only this little peninsula in the mediteranean.
Romans had to serve 25 years with their miltitary in the early days. Later there was decadence, corruption and the army was made up of foreigners. This was the start of the decline.
If I think of todays Italian:
Today Italian women are really among the most beatiful.Their skin is darker than the northern European but not as dark as arab or indian colour. You must have seen blue eyes + black hair this is amazing

Besides their military prowess the Romans were excellent engineers as well. Some Roman bridges are still in use, as well as original Roman plumbing. Kind of funny when you think about it. Here in the US we put pipes in the street and after about 100 years or so they break or leak. Meanwhile some of this stuff built by the Romans is being used 2,000 years later.
The American Marine Division has the highest combat effectiveness in the American armed forces. It seems not enough for our four divisions to surround and annihilate its two regiments.

For me it has never been clear what people were those Romans? Were they just a combination of many European people plus many other people from Arab and Africa?
In Holy Roman Empire there were many Germanic Kings.
In Acient Roman Empire the leading peole were the Greeks?

To answer 'what was a Roman', it depends really on what period of the Empire we are talking about. A Roman was a citizen of either the Roman Republic or the Roman Empire.(depending on the period)
The criteria for who could be a citizen changed over the centuries though.
In the early days of the Roman Republic a Roman was only a citizen of the city of Rome. Later as Rome established it's hegemony over other cities in Latium (a part of Italy inhabited by a people called the Latins, including the Romans), Roman citizenship was extended to all of Latium. As Rome expanded further this citizenship would later also be conferred upon non-Latin peoples who lived in Italy such as the Etruscans, Greeks and Alpine Gauls when they became sufficiently Romanized. By the time Rome was being ruled by Emperors rather than the Senate, conquered peoples outside of Italy were also being awarded citizenship. Eventually even some of the Senators and Emperors were non-Latin Romans.
As to the ethnicty of Romans, the original Romans would have been Latins.

Second the tradiction,ROMA was found in the year 754bc and "live"until the year 565ac,when The Emperor JUSTINIANO die.
ROMA have some differents kinds of govern like above:
1-The Real period(from the origens to the realeze tomb,in 510bc)
2-Republican period(from510 to 27bc,when the Senate put OTAVIANO,the futur AUGUSTO,in the supreme power with the denomination of PRINCIPS)
3-Principate period(from 27bc to 285ac,with the begin of the DOMINATO,by DIOCLECIANO).
4-DOMINATO period(from 285 to 565ac,the date die of JUSTINIANO).
ROMA orign and the legend.
The ROMA origns are lendary and the seven first kings,ROMULO,NUMA POMPÍLIO,TULO HOSTÍLIO,ANCO MÁRCIO,TARQUINIO o PRISCO,SÉRVIO TÚLIO and TARQUÍNIO the Soberbo arent historical persons, but,in every legend we have some true;so,we have this history of the ROMA begin like more or less like the ADAM and EVE history for the jews begin and untill we can know right or sure how all begin thats is the story or the legend.

English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, are all derived from Latin
They didnt derive from latin, as languages. They prexisted. They have a large portion of their vocabulary deriving from Latin which is the same as the words deriving from Greek.English is a germanic language. It belongs in the germanic group of indoeuropean branch.French spanish italian belong in the romance languages because they similarities.Same as rumanian, portuguese.Their base is latin.
the above languages, all have a huge percentege of latin and greek, and not only them but all european languages one ay or another,
regarding english it has old english, french, germanic latin and greek with last three having the biggest poetion of it and last two even larger.
Dont forget that the two tribes that went to england were germanic, the anglos and the saxons....

I don't think Italy ever really recovered from the Roman Empire's collapse... LOL!
Anyway, today, HBN, Latin is still spoken in Vatican City (in Rome).

LOL, I know what you mean. When I was in Rome last year, (while we were driving to the Vatican area) we saw an old Roman apartment. I saw a light on in there. I asked: “Aunt, are there people really living in there? Aren't they afraid that the place will collapse?”
She replied: “Don't worry about it, the Romans' buildings are safer than today's models...”

Yeah we still use Roman sewers here in the UK. I remember watching some TV program on sewers (LOL yeah I know) and they were just wondering around miles and miles of Roman sewers that are still in use 2000 years after they were built, pretty impressive.
There is still **** loads of Roman stuff where I live in London.

Ever heard the saying "Past actions predict future actions"
This is so true in many ways of every war waged...
ww1 and ww2 they didnt have any pride in what they were doing...they should have stayed out of it..
besides where I live they have some view that they are the best thing to happen to this planet.... the way the Military is organized most of the soldiers are from "wasp" decent meaning "White-anglo-saxon-protestant" which most of North American's armed forces is... its rare to see someone with different baskground or visible minority to be in the military..
they come here expecting and wanting everything but when the **** hits the fan they will not protect what or where they live.
If it becomes big and full conscription hits Canada... you will see a major problem of becoming AWOL, Deserting, or Dodging the Draft.
These are some of my reasons..
