BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Several thousand Iraqis protested the closure of a newspaper Sunday, chanting anti-U.S. slogans and burning American flags outside the newspaper's office in Baghdad.

This is a very unwise thing to do on the U.S part! If the group was really misguiding people, and was inflaming sentiments, then their lies would be exposed eventually, and they would loose all sympathy amongst the population!
Closing their newspaper will only lead to more claims of imperialist actions by the occupying forces, and heightens tensions amongst the population. Also, people will be asking themselves, where is the democracy, where is the freedom of speech that the U.S promised. The U.S will loose all credibility when talking about democracy and freedoms!

This action will lead to the group getting more sympathy from the Iraqi people, and might very well start violent acts towards the U.S troops!
