Flight from the fight

Two American soldiers have deserted, claiming asylum in Canada rather than serve in Iraq. They argue that the war is illegal under international law

They are Brave People.

I hope good luck with them.

Why die for Bush?
Why Bush didn't go to Iraq, Bush enjoys coffee at home, while other young guys die for NOTHING in Iraq.

They are cowards and Canada can have them. I wouldn't want them breeding within our borders and spawning more cowards. They aren't conscripts so I don't have any pity for them. They signed up for the military willingly and knew what that entailed. Shame on them for not honoring their contracts.

If they ever do return to the US, they should (and will) be prosecuted for violating several articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The American Marine Division has the highest combat effectiveness in the American armed forces. It seems not enough for our four divisions to surround and annihilate its two regiments.

No, they are brave men as HBN said, why else would they dare do that? they ahve courahe, they have a brain which i cannot say all american soldiers have. they dare to stand up. this is the beginning..

BTW, are you subtly trying to say that CAnada is not as gpood as USA so cowards should go there? canada is not your rubbsish tip, although you often use it as one.

I condemn the Imperialist - Christian genocide of the Iraqis , NAtive Americans , Muslims , Chinese , Vietnamese , Somalians , Koreans , .... and others in the Double faced - Disgusting imperialist empire also known as the West .

If its against us Asians, it is treated as a small matter, if the same Incident happens against the west it is an _ASTROCITY*

i agree with gyrene - they signed up as volunteers, and they knew what their chosen profession demands. if they didnt want to go to war they should never have joined up.

you may not agree with the war, but if the people upstairs say you have to fight, those are your orders.

by the way, i think canada is a lovely place. top-notch skiing there.

Mao,

I have nothing against Canada. Canadians are our cousins to the north.
My statement about Canada keeping them was not a disparaging remark about Canada, but rather a desire to be rid of these two deserters. I don't have any respect for them.

""i agree with gyrene - they signed up as volunteers, and they knew what their chosen profession demands. if they didnt want to go to war they should never have joined up.""

Wrong, they signed up to defend the US against all that threaten the American way of life, not to be part of a war, started, and based on lies.

""you may not agree with the war, but if the people upstairs say you have to fight, those are your orders.""

Wrong again.
Those were the defense argument of some Nazi members at the Nuremberg trials, the American Judge's reply was" As a human being, it is your moral responsibility to know what is right, and what is wrong".

If your President told you to kill all the babies you encounterd, would you do it?

I like Americans, I think they are good hearted people always willing to help, I think helping other comes very natural to them, but like other countries and their people, they are very susceptible to propaganda, and being mislead.
