Its a tankers helmet so when they hit their head on celing it doesnt hurt. a bit like a rugby cap thing. the normal one is for soldiers standing up and firing machine gun.

but... normal helmets do that dont they? :S and surely a big crown like that would make it more difficult to move around in confined spaces?

seems a little odd to me... unless thats the actual shape of the guy's head :D

What kind of helmets do Western Troops wear?

I don't think I have seen them once.

This is Chinese tanker crew's traditional helmets, looks good to me I'd say.

I am not sure, but I guess those weird helmets contain communications and HUDs.  At the very least, the inflated area around the ears would suggest some sort of sound isolation (i.e. hearing protection.)

Those type of helmet's are called "craneum protector" they are designed to stop your head from getting cracked open while traversing rough terrain, and they do not have a HUD

they are probably nice and warm(like a nice scarf helmet) protecting the soldiers from the cold, since the chinese tanks dont have heat, and they freeze their asses there....

it is smaller. as you can see. it is just the photo is taken at a strange angle. It is ribbed to prevent all the head hitting it. also, can be more mobile and can fold unlike a steel helmet. look at the diference.

and

as you can see, instead of steel which still hurts, it is soft padding on the chinese one.

Tibet is so amazing, one day I will go to visit there.
We really should protect the culture there and make it much better.

Tibet is a nice place i agree. But sometimes our development and pace should not go with theirs. we should allow them to be autonomous, not only in words, but in action. Leave them to themselves.

Looks to me like a typical Russian/Soviet style Tanker's helmet... a little to similar to Russian standards if you ask me.

maybe.. maybe you should stop thinking we are the same countries and f_cking look at us now. maybe its just a similar design, no need to think we copy.

Sorry, I don't get it. China should leave Tibet like US should leave Iraq. Same situation, IMO.
