It was the right thing to do then and it would be the right thing to do today. Don't forget that the Imperial Japanese were Nazis, they were making great efforts to deploy so-called WMD (chemical and biological weapons) against the US, Canada and Australia; we already know what they did to the rest of Asia.

Dropping the atom bomb on Japan had to be done. There was no way the fanatic Japanese would have surrendered had we used only conventional weapons. They had to be convinced their nation was facing utter destruction.
An invasion of Japan would have resulted in many thousands of allied casualties and, perhaps, millions of Japanese casualties. It was no alternative to the bomb.

how can people justify the the use of atomic on civilian population.???
I agree with revisionist historians that the main reason was to end the war before russia was able to organize its army and open a front against japan...incase russia would stay once the war is over like eastern europe..

japaneses had lost the ocean battle before A-bomb was droped. they lost almost all their navy force, lack of fuel and material while the USA was able to produce everything in mess production.
American victory was inevitable and this was known before 200.000 civilian people were vaporized by dammn A-Bomb
