RIP, it is too bad they had to pay the price for Berlusconi's (arrogant?) politics. But like it or not, this would not have happened under Saddam Hussein because during his time, at least there was law and order.

They werent there to help...They were in Iraq to stabilize Iraq in America's favor..which is considered a crime against Iraq from the perspective of the insurgents.
where were these "helpers" when Iraq was under massive western sanctions that killed half a million Iraqi kids ? now isnt that a way more horrible crime against humanity ? Dont wear the cloak of tenderness and compassion. You are as evil as the insurgents if not more evil.
Dont bring up the oil for food issue up because it is as fake as American government propoganda.
Noone gave these people permission to enter Iraq. When you enter Iraq you know what the risks are...By going into Iraq you have risked everything even your life. They knew what the consequences are. I dont know what the motivations for these women were that brought them to Iraq. I hope they didnt go to Iraq for a little bit more salary.

The woman run over by the tractor? The two peace activists "accidentally" shot by IDF snipers?
Human rights have taken a turn for the worse in the middle east in general. Thats because you have fanatics on ALL sides in this conflict and that includes Israel. The death of innocent civilians means nothing to zealots.

But like it or not, this would not have happened under Saddam Hussein because during his time, at least there was law and order.
What????
Would not have happend under Saddan Hussein????
He was worse but he was smart enough not public videos of his atrocities.
I saw video , after the americans conquered Iraq, showing how his barbaric people putting TNT in the shirt pockets of two Iraqis and blowing them form
distance.
There is a pattern for those barbaric that U can not ignore.
The same atrocities are happend in more then one place.
It happens in Israel, Russia, US, Iraq ,Indonesia, India, Philippines and
the list is long.
They are all muslim, they are all using the name of Islam, they are all see

Sylvent, the women were two humanitarian workers to help Iraqis, not to stabilize Iraq or anything, they wanted to help the Iraqi people who slipped into poverty.
“Italy unfortunately has been long excluded from the number of European powers. If Italians today are worthy of resuming their rights, someday they will see their country arise with glory among the powers of the earth.”--Napoleone Buonaparte

"Sylvent, the women were two humanitarian workers to help Iraqis, not to stabilize Iraq or anything, they wanted to help the Iraqi people who slipped into poverty."
who caused the downfall of iraq ? if there is a reason behind them slipping into poverty it's your past atrocities namely, your sanctions against Iraq had devastating effect on the life of Iraqi people..You supported Saddam in a time when the people of Iraq were being massacred in an uprising...You wanted Saddam hussein to prevail becasue you were anxious of the growing power of the Mullas across the border. no matter what Saddam was going to do, you just wanted him to rule Iraq even if it meant the slaughter of thousands of Iraqis..all this because of money and oil...and then you call Bush a nazi ?
If what Hitler did in the 40s is considered horrible crimes against humanity then I think your actions in the past decades make Hitler's look like a humanitarian work.
If i was an Iraqi i would have done the same thing...As a nation each and every single Iraqi has the right to inflict harm on the invaders..You simply do not belong to Iraq..Iraq has always been the land of ancient Mesotopemians..what are you doing in Iraq ? who asked for help ?...You have two choices...either stay and die in vain ...or leave in peace.
All you Europeans do is double talk....you are the ones who screwed Iraq up now you send your people to help ? hehe gotta be joking...Of course you do not want to help...

As we all know the women were freed for 1 million dollars.
The american government and some other countries where bitching about it,,,,I was rreading the New York Post and they were giving some numbers regarding to what they can buy with one million dollars.
-3,300 attacks on american troops since each attack is paid 300$
-80,000 Kalashnikovs
-60 million rounds of ammunition
-------
Anyway i think they did the right thing.First of all this is not Italy's war and they shouldnt let their citizens die.If my government had let two citizens die while they could buy their lives for one million dollars i couldnt vote for them and id make sure others that i know dont vote for them.

Not that I care about monotheistic religions originating from the Middle East (I don't because I feel more Buddhist) but didn't the Nazis believe they were "chosen by nature" to be inherently "superior?" Wasn't that their sacred belief?

We believe we are "The chossen people" (at least part of it),
Nazis and the Hitler youth also believed in "Aryan supremacy." They never asked the Poles or Czechs to believe it. But they "asked" that they allow Germans in the Sudetanland and Danzig (Poland) to allow their lands to be with their "fellow Aryan brethern."
...we do not impose or ask no one to believe in it.
Palestinians and other Arabs may disagree with you, especially when Israelis believe firmly that modern day Jordan, Syria and Lebanon belongs to the Jewish people.
The obsession of some people here to talk about it make me laugh.
People also used to laugh at Hitler's "Aryan supremacy" theory, especially when Jesse Owens, a black man, won the 100 metre sprint at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

In fact Adolf Hitler had a great admiration for religious symbols as a means to mobilise a population. That is why he chose the Hindu symbol of the East-West winds as the basis for the Nazi swatstika; he merely rotated it 90 degrees.
As for the Bible, there was a reason why he made close alliances with such strongly Christian countries like Italy and Spain, even against the strong protests of his generals.
