tonight while i was chatting on IRC some hackers(i dont know where they were from) took down the whole israeili internet network for about an hour or so...heh.

* Ident-lopo (Incognito@84.94.62.158.forward.012.net.il) Quit (Read error: No route to host)
* Miro (izzrlbfc@84.94.3.163.forward.012.net.il) Quit (Read error: No route to host)
* Asaff[STUDYING] (UnderDog@80.178.196.110.forward.012.net.il) Quit (Read error: No route to host)
* poetic-killer (poetic-kil@bzq-218-103-174.red.bezeqint.net) Quit (Read error: No route to host)

* Shachar2 (Shachar2@bzq-218-114-24.red.bezeqint.net) Quit (Read error: No route to host)

No route to host : it simply means there are no routes for the packets to get to the target machine and as you can see from above there are no routes to different israeili ISPs...all ISPs located in Israel experienced outages tonight for about 1 to 2 hours.

* shachar19 (shacharr@l192-117-110-194.cable.actcom.net.il) Quit (Ping timeout)
* Dr_Kasper^23 (Dr_Kasper_@bzq-179-117-154.cablep.bezeqint.net) Quit (Ping timeout)
* barman- (adir@80.179.61.178.forward.012.net.il) Quit (Ping timeout)

ping timed out : simly indicates that the israeili networks are under heavy terrafic which s causing the outages...

It costs companies many billions of dollars to fix damage and buy protective systems. Hackers need to serve some serious jail time and it will stop.

well...why dont you blame this on software developers ? arent they the ones creating software with loopholes ? We should thank the hacker community for exploiting the vulnerablities.

me personally think that microsoft puts security holes in its OS intentionally because of security reasons..they might have brokered deals with intelligence agencies behind the scenes...so if someday someone wanted to have access to some target machine she/he would have it without any difficulties...

i dont know about Microsoft but even a school kid with a little programming background can avoid the buffer overflows...
