today, the biggest and most powerfull submarine is the Russian TYPHOON,
the submarine carries 20 nukes, the power of all these nukes together is enough to wipe any continent of the face of the earth, but is it the best nuclear submarine? what do you think?

It depends on its mission. I`d agree that the best SSBN in the world is the Typhoon and you have to love "The Hunt for Red October", but the best SSN is easily the Seawolf, then the Virginia.

Best? In which way best? In which catogory (class)?

If you talk about Nuke Sub, hell All Nuke Subs are the BEST since when they start to fire, Game Over, no one is left to compare which is the best.

If you talk other types, hmm, only when seen them killed some others, then got a chance to evaluate the P/M, otherwise all BS talking on paper.

HBN You have to Admit the U.S. has the best Nuculear subs & the Germans ofcourse have the best non nuclear subs the U214 is an example of this. Class 214

I really like the German subs by HDW.

Llakos I know what you mean, but do you know what I mean?

Following, I am not intending to say it is the best, I simply mean ALL NUKE SSBN's are BEST, no one can win no one if they start to FIRE Nukes.

do you mean attack submarines?

I think the latest Sea wolf (am i correct?) should outperform in the large blue ocean theater...but when you get towards the smaller seas, having nuclear subs is POINTLESS.

Before you say that American submarines are better, please read about Russian submarines and then say who do you think is better.

Some of Russia's best Submarines:

941 TYPHOON:

Project 949 Granit / Oscar I
Project 949A Antey / Oscar II:

Project 971 Shuka-B Bars-class
Akula class
Attack Submarine (Nuclear Powered):

Some of USA's best Submarines:

SSBN-726 Ohio-Class FBM Submarines:

SSN-21 Seawolf-class:

SSN-774 Virginia-class New Attack Submarine [NSSN] Centurion:

SSN-688 Los Angeles-class:

it looks photoshoped...

I know Russians have a seriously powerful arsenal, but it depends on where they are fighting. US navy excels at fighting in blue water oceans, I believe Russians had more of a coastal advantage.

Theater is just as important as technology.

Why would the Typhoon be the best SSBN in the world!!!!

Total potential nuclear yield of world's SSBN's:

Ohio(USA): 24 missiles each with 8 475Kt MIRV's = 91.2Mt per SSBN
Vanguard(UK): 16 missiles each with 8 475Kt MIRV's = 60.8Mt per SSBN
DeltaIII(Russia): 16 missiles each with 3 500Kt MIRV's = 24Mt per SSBN
Typhoon(Russia): 20 missiles each with 10 100Kt MIRV's = 20Mt per SSBN
DeltaIV(Russia): 16 missiles each with 10 100Kt MIRV's = 16Mt per SSBN
Triomphant(France): 16 missiles each with 6 150Kt MIRV's = 14.4Mt per SSBN
Xia(China): 12 mssiles each with 1 1MT warhead = 12Mt per SSBN

Total fleet yield:

USA: 1550.4Mt (17 Ohio SSBN's)
Russia: c.350Mt (c. 18 SSBN's, Borey, Typhoon, Delta III, Delta IV)
UK: 243.2Mt (4 Vanguard SSBN's)
France: 38.4Mt (4 Triomphant SSBN's)
China: 12Mt (1 Xia SSBN)

first of all, I didn't say the typhoon was the best.
second of all, you mite want to check the range of the missiles used by the typhoon and the ohio.
by the way, the typhoon has a swimming pool and all kinds of other stuff in side.

I will make it easier for you,
The range of typhoon's SS-N-20 Sturgeon missiles is:
8,300km

The range of Ohio's Trident missiles:
7,360km

The range of DELTA CLASS IV's SS-N-23 Skiff missiles is:
8,300km

USA has the most nukes that are carried around by submarines.
second place is Russia.
that means that Russia can destroy the world only 10 times and america only 30 times.
come on, 1 time is enough you know. so if you have enough nukes to destroy the world one time, you don't need anymore.

-------------------------

Well that must come in usefull.

---------------------------------

As to missile ranges, the 7,400km range you quote is for the Trident C1 which was retiered 15 years ago. The Trident II D5 that is used on all US Ohio SSBN's and on British Vanguard SSBN's has a range of 12,000KM.

Also the SS-N-20 has a CEP of 500m
The SS-N-23 has a CEP of 900m
Trident II D5 has a CEP of 90m

with a range of 12,000km the payload is smaller.
and it doesn't matter if you miss the target by 500 meters, anyway your going to destroy it.
Russian submarines also have a better survivability. If you noticed they are much wider than american submarines and have double hulls.
The Russian Bars class nuclear submarine has 8 torpedo lunching systems.
4x650mm tubes.
4x533mm tubes.
The submarine also carries 12 Granit land attack cruise missiles.
we can keep on arguing for ever what submarine is better. so lets just stop arguing. I think that both countries have great nuclear submarines.
