what do you think is the best MBT (main battle tank), and why do you think so?

technologically, The leclerc seems to have the best systems. The best overall, I favor the Leopard2A6EX, and I can not wait for the 140mm cannon!!!

Other than that, I really would like to see more Franco-German cooperation!!!

A franco-German tank? German Armour and Cannon with the French electronic and autoloading systems. Amazing!!!

France and Russia use the same electronics for the tanks. T-90 and the Leclerc ,they also use the same thermal and night vision.

I like the German tank. Germans are great in making whatever that moves on ground.

So Leo is my choice.

Leopard 2A6 followed closely by M1A2 Abrams....

I'm not 100% sure of this and it could be the other way around, either way its very close.

I Think that Germany and Russia produce the best tanks,
In WW2 Germans had the most powerful tanks and the best technology,
In the last years of the war, when the Allise controlled the skies, german tanks where very easy prey for planes like the P-47, So the germans developed the first infrared equipment for thier tanks, so that theier tanks could attack at night.
The Russians developed the legendary tank, The T-34, It was also the most produced tank of ww2 with more than 56,000 constructed (followed by the american sherman with over 49,000 constructed).
They also produced the amazing IS-2 Tank.
by the end of the war the soviets introduced the IS-3 tank, which the americans and british counted as the most powerful tank in the world for 10 years (until 1955, when supirior tanks where introduced)
French, British and Japanese tanks were infirior to German and Soviet tanks.
As for the USA, Their most well know tank was the sherman,
well the sherman was a good tank, but it took at least 3 to stop a heavy german tank. The american pershing heavy tank that apeared in the last year of the war was good, but he apeared too late.
I think that the best MBT is the Leopard 2A6 Ex and the T-90S.
I think that the Abrams Tank is also a very good tank, but not as good as the Leo and th T-90S.
by the way, apex you got mixed up, the M1A2 followed closly after the Leo.

Until the others are combat proven otherwise, I would still have to say the Challenger II is the best MBT in the world, followed by the M1A2.  But in all honesty, I think the differences between the major tanks are minimal and the outcome will depend mostly on the quality of the crew.  In other words, if we put the British tank crew in a T-72 and an Iraqi tank crew in the Challenger II or Leopard 2A6 or Leclerc, the British tank crew would have still come out on top.

The Leopard 2A6EX is widely believed by almost every independent expert in the world to be the best of the best, second to none. I don't put any faith into that you have to be battle proven to be considered a battle tank. There are contests that The Leopard 2 consistently beats all comers, some may think that the M1 or Challenger 2 is the best, why can't they beat the Leopard 2? It is true that the differences are little, but if one has to be choosen, than that would be the Leopard 2 above all others.

Russians and Germans have different doctrines. Russians believe in flooding the battle with a lot of tank formations and having LIGHT and FAST maneuvarable Tanks...Germans have a lot of strong heavy tanks...wayyy different doctrines.
