Japan will undoubtebly have a better navy and marine force.

Don't the N.Koreans have nukes already??!!
The problem is that N.Korea is not Libya or Iraq, they can hit back.
Politicians may talk tough, but that's just politics, believe that and you'll be buying snake oil soon!
North Korea has missiles that can hit Japan, and even if the known N.Korean sites were successfully taken out, the missiles would rain down on Japan, and this would seriously threaten the world's economy, and probably ruin Japan's.
Also, if the Japans were to strike out first, they will be the aggressors, and loony Kim might very well used nukes, which would mean that the only country to have ever been nukes would be nuked again!
Also, China will most certainly not be happy, and may supply anti aircraft missiles and other such weapons to the Koreans, and tension in the region would certainly shoot up, but I can't see the Chinese actually getting directly involved in this potential war!

I'd also love see some info on the Japans air force, and see what their capabilities are.

- Japan is in NO POSITION to pre-emptive of anyone; be they are North Korean or the South Pole Penguins. Remember, Japanese are still a war criminal and setting in jail for her WWII sins; for your information, Japanese constitution bar them for any arms attack on her neighbors. Japanese armed forces can only be used for self-defense, and all this pre-emptive theory are just non-sense.

- If each nations takes up and practice this American pre-emptive theory; our world will be in chaos, for we would have plenty of phantom excuse and justification to start wars!


- As to your second question; if USA unjustified to attack North Korea, you bet China would step in to help and defense North Korea liken in the pass. This should answer your question about if Japan threaten North Korean, which side is China going to stand!
