The B-2 stealth bomber is worth its weight in gold. Literally. It is the Same price as half an aircraft carrier. The F-117 in my opinion just sucks outright. The B-2 on the otherhand make up for its price by having the ability to nuke every major east-coast US city in one run, if the US ever goes insane.

"Stelth: Good, Bad, a waste of money? Or just retarded"

- Stealth Is Good! It is Bad, and Waste of money too!

- By that, I mean; under a small and regional conflict, Stealth technology is great and effective against a smaller and less technology opponents.

- But, in any great war, liken WWI/WWII types war; me is afraid, all these expensive toys liken Stealth. Laser....etc are not going to make a drastic improvement in a major conflict. The simple reason is that, a prolonged global conflict; all these sophisticated weapons and electronic, can not be effectively maintained and keep in good running orders.

- War is about dirts and grinds; can all these wonderful weapons be able to keep up and run effectively in battle fields?

I agree with you that F-117 sucks, The US military is reducing the amount of F-117s in service, and the Rapotr can also be detected and shot down by new Radars/Missile systems.

Weights of a B-2
Empty: 162,000 lb (73,482 kg)
Typical Takeoff: 336,500 lb (152,634 kg)

Personally I think Stealth is a unique niche that only the USA requires and that China, Russia and the EU will need to gain for their superpower bids. The stealth plane make it possible for you to fly around an proxy nation with pretty much 0 threat of detection. Also the F-117 is old and outdated, the B-2 is also old. The F-22's stealth is really to stop the Russian fighters from getting a lock and making the Russian Air to air missles less effective.

What makes us believe that the USA doesn't posess a far superior stealth technology than currently exsists. They built a frigin stealth ship in a city harbour an no one knew about it. The F-117 and B-2s were de-classified long after there were already fleets of them.
