first off, ur not going to lose 12-13 pounds in 3 weeks. u might be able to lose 5?

anywho, go muhammed ali on his ass. let him bring u into the ropes and turtle, let him tire himself out, and then just tie his arms up so u can get a break. then use ur good attacking skills when hes tired.

oh boy. i can't really explain it too well. alright kneel down. get a barbel and put it infront by your chest and push it up over your head. then you can also go behind your neck doing the same thing. maybe Nathan or Troy can explain it a little better.

this should help

first of all i wanna say that if u wanted to drop 12 to 13 pounds in 3 weeks u could def do it. you wouldn't be at 100% though during ur fight cuz of the excessive dieting and exercise, but dont worry u'll be good enough to compete. i would say aim at 8-10 pounds of loss. anyhow, as far as defense drills i recommend this. attach a rope to ur wall in ur room and attach it to a wall parallel to the first wall, make sure the rope is 3-4 inches shorter than u. duck and weave under the rope on both sides while throwing uppercuts when u come up. also, have someone throw punches at u, tellin u what kind they're going to throw, for 12 rounds of 3 minutes, then after 2 weeks, try to do the same drill without knowing what punch is comin. double end bags are also good for defense and counterpunching. neck strength: do neck bridges - lay on ur back and roll ur head back on the floor and try to raise ur body using use ur head and ur neck. do the same by laying on ur front. make sure to spar and do focus mitt work before ur fight. hope this helps. also military presses are the same as shoulder presses. sit on a bench, or stand up, with a barbell in ur hands and press the bar straight up into the air, in front of ur neck, or behind ur neck, both are effective shoulder and trap builders. go knock that other dude on his ass!!!

Don't lose weight too fast

You never want to drop weight too fast. It weakens you. Do it gradually. Try to find your natural body weight and fight there.

Eat your meat!

The Atkins diet offers the fastest, and can can keep you from becoming diabetic.

A few things to think about before committing to something so cult like(it put krispy creme practicly out of business). First off, it can make you tired, sickly, and desperate. The stronger your body is, the easier it will be.

Ive heard people having to go to the doctor they were so sick, and my best friend lost 20lbs in 20 days (227-207) and still being able to do a full workout.

Also, multi vitamans are required, id go with liquid.

And the sad part is, you cant compete on a low-no carb diet. Youll get your ass beat. Actually, whenever you are trying to loose weight for a fight, even the best (Jones) usually perform subpar as a result.

the Atkins diet is very bad for you though. It can cause heart problems, ostoeperosous, and kidney abnormalties from lack of calcium and good nutrients you find in carbs.

rm my boy

September 22 2004, 7:42 AM

please remember that carbohydrates are nothing more then starches and sugars. They have only one nutritional value, to be used as an energy source.

Now a days, they have carb free everything, for a price that is. Carb free bread, ice cream, and chocolate so your diet doesnt have to be so plain.

Besides that, there have been no proven studies that link low carb lifestyles to heart problems. Here's the clicker, on Atkins, you are told to eat as much meat, protien and fat as you would like. The only down side to this is that anything that has red blood, will also have cholesterol. So in theory, low carb people would have a greater chance for heart disease.

But, there is this little thing called science. We dont have to eat foods to get all the nutriants we need. We can take a whole variety of vitamans and minerals to make up for what you cant eat(starches and sugars have little or no nutriants) which is only starches and sugars. You can eat any type of veggy. No fruits, but the vitamans c, b, b12, and potassiam can be made up in a multi vitaman.

RM, before you go off bashing something, make sure you have a little more knowledge on the subject. Not to be a dick, but you are very mis-lead.

Also, if it was that horribel for your health, wouldnt you hear of mass deaths due to heart disease, oh wait, you already do. 30 years before atkins, heart disease was and still is the no.1 causing death in America. Im not sure about Canada though

yes in canada heart disease is the # 1 cause for death. But i read that the atkins diet can cause all these problems on a site posted by a well known doctor.

get a punching bag and some weighted (1-3 pounds) gloves for hand speed drills. i have 2 pound weighted gloves and they're perfect for heavy bag rounds, shadow boxing, and hand speed drills.

September 29 2004, 9:06 AM

one thing you could do is fight some one younger than you to build up your confidence or you could spar some one and ask them not to hit you so you can improve your attacking skills i have a similar problem but the other way round i am to attaking and need to work on my defense.i will beable to give you some better tis if you explain your boxing style to me and also tell me your height and weight.o and i have a question for everyone else what part ofthe fist should i hit the speed ball with because when you see pro's hitting the speedballthey hit it with their pinkie fingerpointing towards the actual bag.
