help with foot work

if anybody could help me out with my foot work i would appericate it. I have trouble moving around I feel very hevy footed any advice. I thnk is that i'm not used to my fighting stance yet. When i use to get in street fights, i used to light on my feet.

try jump roping a little and wearing some foot weights when you box

i do the jump jump about 15 min. each time i hit the gym, but i'll try the weights

the nice thing about boxing is that the footwork is very simple. there are three key movements. the shuffle, the pivot, and the half-step. the 3 of them allow you to move around without ever crossing your feet over.

the shuffle is for moving backwards. you simply move your back foot backwards and a bit and then do the same with your front good. if you've ever seen badminton on TV, they do it all the time.

the pivot is for turning. you just keep one foot planted and spin on that foot by moving the other one. you see it in basketball when they lose their dribble and are looking for a pass.

the half-step is the same as the shuffle but for going forward. just move your front leg forward and then do the same with the back leg.

just practice shadow boxing without crossing your feet. it doesnt matter if your feet "feel heavy" because you barely have to lift your feet off the ground to do these movements.
