new heavy bag user

i just started. i just picked up a heavy bag and some gloves. any tips so i dont hurt my wrists. isnt there some rule your not supposed to hit it when its swinging twords you. any help would be greatly appreciated!

protect your hands

learn to wrap your hands and get good at it as far as working the bag never hit the bag when it's coming towards you instead step to the side and turn into the bag as it goes past you now it's swinging away and you can attack if the bag is swinging left use a right hook and vice versa

Bag hittin'

Hit the bag but don't cause it to start movin' wildly around. Crisp shots that barely make the bag move is what you want. If you're making the bag sway all around, you are most likely pushing your punches or overextending, and if you ever fight a good fighter he'll easily duck your punches and counter with hard shots of his own. Punch smoothly and make contact so that your hands, wrists and forearms all line up (perpendicular to the plane if your hip on tha' geometry).
