Sparring

I just wanted to know about the right sparring partners. I train at a gym near my home, I been training about a 1yr and my coach had me sparr his top guy for my first session. This guy is a pro and needles to say it was intimidating, but I sparred him with knowing my skills werent on his level and felt the difference in skill level.
I just wanted to know what some thought and could give me some advice. One thing I took from it was my visualazation is much better when I shadow or hit the bag, and my defense has been worked on. After sparring him I was dissapointed in my style, exchanges and that I didnt do enough, but the fact I even stepped in the ring with him gave me hope or told me that I'm crazy.

You want to be careful in who you chose as a sparring partner. Sometime when you spar with someone much better than yourself, you become a "defensive" fighter. Meaning you learn to only survive in the ring and not become an aggresive attacker. You get so used to getting beat up that your style of boxing turns into covering up and running instead of attacking and going for points. I suggest finding someone more at your level or at least someone with skill that will help you learn also and not just use you as a punching bag. I cover this more in my online coarse at AAA Boxing.
