Hello all,
I've been using "Google Scholar" and "Google Books" more frequently recently for personal projects and have discovered that you can find tidbits that won't come up using a regular Google search. A Google Books search for Eddie King and Victor came up with this passage (among others). It's from a book called "Popular American Recording Pioneers" by Tim Gracyk.
After referencing a joint recording project by King and Nat Shilkret for Victor billed as the "Shilking Orchestra" (!) the author gives the following background information about King:
"Eddie King, who played percussion instruments and even recorded bell solos, was a veteran of making discs, making solo records for Zon-o-phone as early as 1905 (Jim Walsh states in the April 1966 issue of 'Hobbies' that King became Zon-o-phone's artists and repertoire manager) and performing in Columbia ensembles before that."
