Cursive writing is an endangered species these days. I read the cause of death to be "fracture of skull, from a fall while under the influence of alcoholic liquor, accidental". My understanding is that this has been the well-accepted explanation for his death, but that there was some confusion over the exact circumstances. I recall reading somewhere that he fell of the running board of an automobile that lurched forward unexpectedly.
