Thanks for the information.I see now this is a fiction book by the author of short stories.
This is what i read about the author at one of those links:
"Dave Margoshes explores uncharted territory of the human heart in this thoroughly engaging new collection of short stories. Like a small boy fascinated with bugs and frogs, Margoshes, a journeyman story-writer, holds his characters up to the light and lets them squirm. By and large, these people are content with their ordinary, somewhat humdrum lives, until they are shaken by unexpected stress:"
This kind of bothered me a bit after i read the above and i know one of his stories is Bix's Trumpet.First the author mistakenly lists trumpet instead of cornet which leads me to believe he is not entirely knowledgeable about Bix.
Also i was worried about the statement above,"Margoshes, a journeyman story-writer, holds his characters up to the light and lets them squirm."
If he is facinated with Bix like a small boy is with a frog or bug and likes to hold him up to the light and let's his characters squirm then the content of his Bix's Trumpet fiction story might be disturbing reading.
And i don't think Bix was content to lead an ordinary humdrum life either like the author describes his characters.
I think exactly the opposite is true.
This is a description from the site on the author about a musician in the book.
"a middle-aged musician, satisfied with his place in the orchestra's second violin section, begins to re-examine his life when he discovers a long-buried family secret"
Who is the author referring to? Bix didn't play violin and he was not middle aged.
Also the author in this Bix's Trumpet book has a story on a man who was a secret pornographer.
"A woman learns her likeable step-father was a secret pornographer"
I have to say i am really disgusted about story about a pornographer being in a book entitled Bix's Trumpet.
I don't like the affect it might have on casual readers picking up the book and looking inside and seeing a chapter on a pornographer and maybe wronging associating that with Bix because his name is on the title of the book.
