I found an interesting mention of Bix in another book on Chicago jazz called "Chicago Jazz:A Cultural History, 1904-1930" by William Howland Kenny. Here is a mention of Bix on page 105. This author believes Armstrong had a bigger influence on Chicago white musicians than Bix:
and again on pages 137 and 138 the author places more importance on Armstrong than Bix concerning their solo playing on records:
