I don't quite agree Linda...

You say that if Bix had a breakdown on Jan. 21 and was recuperating on January 25 then no way would he have been in any shape to play a solo on a record made 4 days later.

Look what people say about Bix's condition while recording "Waiting At The End Of The Road" and it's well Bix who does the solo. OKeh, some might say that it's Andy Secrest playing but seriously, I have no doubts that it's Bix...

Or listen to "Georgia (On My Mind)". On this recording you can actually hear Bix's poor health condition and we know what Jack Teagarden said about Bix when he saw him. On "Bessie Couldn't Help It" recorded at the same recording session you won't hear anything that could make you think that Bix was not well.

Therefore, I don't think that Evans/Evans delivers the proof that Bix is not on that recording.

I share the opinion of Brad Kay entirely: "Whether the player is Bix or not, here is someone whose modi operandi are just like his." I wrote the following to Lisa Ryan yesterday: It's not important if it's Bix or not. If someone manages to sound exactly like Bix he has captured his genius and deserves my respect as much as Bix does.
