Alex, I have to say that you have a tremendous ear for identifying musicians. I have always thought George Mitchell is the cornet payer on those New Orleans Wanderers/Bootblacks sides recorded for Columbia. In fact after you mentioned it was Louis disguising his playing and sounding exactly like George Mitchell I went back and listened to the sides again then listened to some known Mitchell sides like those with the Morton Red Hot Peppers and Luis Russell's Hot Six. It still sure sounds like George Mitchell on those Wanderers/Bootblacks sides. I just don't hear anything that sounds like Louis on those sides. It is nothing short of amazing if Louis could even disguise his tone to sound like George Mitchell on those.
Also who is the alto sax player on those sides, Joe Clark? That is a name I have seen listed on those sides who is a mystery to me.
