Like Brad, I can't understand why the controversy over Bix's presence. To earn his money they let Lodwig play the first middle eight on Loved One then it's Bix all the way. Deep Harlem is a bit of a puzzle. I think that it must be Bix - because it's certainly not Lodwig - but Bix a little out of his genre and reading a part. Goodman proves once again what a great hot clarinet player he was. To me, Bix and Tea sound a little below par from their usual selves on this date. But what the hell? It was just another recording date. Perhaps they'd had a good night out the night before.
