I couldn't help notice "Incomparable Originalities- Kramer and Morton" on that same program aboard ship as the ODJB. I know it wasn't but immediately I thought wouldn't it be something if the Morton of Kramer and Morton was Jelly Roll Morton.
Imagine Jelly Roll Morton performing on the same ship and the same program as the ODJB.
Can't you just hear Alan Lomax asking him about it during the Library of Congress recordings:
Lomax: Jelly, tell us about the time you played the same bill on ship as the Original Dixieland Jazzband
Morton: Man, those guys were terrible. The band was just a lot of noise. It took me and my partner doing our originalities to save the show!
