Hotel Blackhawk partners with Bix Jazz Fest
Historic hotel is host venue during 40th annual festival in 2011
Davenport, IA The Hotel Blackhawk will serve as a band venue and host hotel for the 40th Annual Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival. The announcement was made today in conjunction with the release of the band lineups for the festival which is moving to new dates Aug. 4-7 in 2011.
The return of the festival to the original dates celebrated in 1971 is a perfect tie-in with the return of the Hotel Blackhawk to its former glory. The management of the property is thrilled about hosting music history in a National Register historic setting.

"To bring a prestigious event to our property in general - and the Gold Room in particular - is something that we hope will start a new tradition for the Bix Jazz Festival. Hotel Blackhawk will retain its historical character while featuring modern conveniences, including wireless internet, throughout the 130 guestrooms and extended-stay suites, eight meeting rooms and up to 300-person banquet capacity in the signature Gold Room.
Other hotel features include flat-screen televisions, a state-of-the-art fitness center, business center, swimming pool, hot tub, game room, restaurant and cocktail lounge. The hotel will be part of the Summit Hotels & Resorts group.
Originally built in 1915, Hotel Blackhawk is the beneficiary of a $35 million-plus renovation led by Restoration St. Louis, and owners Amy and Amrit Gill, which took over the property in 2008.
