I can't help it from expressing vigorously what I have thought all along, , ....

(and that the recording of "Americana" further supports), namely, that Bix's name and influence before he became a legend was deep and geographically wide (think of Norman Payne, Philippe Brun, for example). In the US people could see and hear/knew Bix, but in Europe it was all second or third hand and/or via Bix's recordings.
