Albert, thanks so much for posting the obit and links. Jerry Fabris' interview with Peskin is truly like time travel. Equally fascinating is how a talented musician who worked and recorded in the thick of the Jazz Age seems to have operated under the radar of researchers for generations. Seems we only began to know Irving at age 95, and then only because HE reached out. Or am I mistaken...maybe Irving's life story was covered regularly in local Los Angeles media? Anyway, it's sad to know one of the last important participants in early Jazz history is gone.
FYI...one more name to add to the list. The vital records index for Worcester, Mass. for 1908 lists the birth of Israel N. Peskin, born 22 January, son of Hyman Peskin and Kate Segal.
