When I see photos of writers, collectors,etc, I always enjoy peering into the background of books on the shelves behind them. Show me a man's books, and I'll show you his inner world and maybe, deepest desires.
The photo is not razor sharp but I see Driggs had the standard bios on Fats Waller (Waller and Calabrese), Ross Firestone's Benny Goodman, Mark Tucker's Duke Ellington, even Gillespie's "To Be or Not to Bop." Many of the same editions I have.
Anybody ever do this--peer into the margins to see what were a man's bookish desires, or maybe to find that rare, exotic, or elusive title?
