How common was for 1920s musicians ....

.... to engrave their names on their instruments? For example, just ot name a few trombonists withe connections to Bix, did Tommy Dorsey, Bill Rank, Jack Teagarden have trombones engraved with their names? What about trumpet players? Louis, Andy Secrest, Red Nichols, etc?Of course, we know about Bix's Bach cornet.

On November 10, 2010 the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation presented the first Satchmo Award to recording legend Herb Alpert. A Sonaré 801 trumpet hand crafted by E.K. Blessing at its Elkhart, Indiana workshop and engraved with Alpert's name was part of the award.
