Hoagy Carmichael musical cancelled after hitting financial problems
A musical about Hoagy Carmichael has been cancelled after running into financial difficulties.
Stardust Road was due to receive its world premiere at the St James Theatre in London in October.
However, its lead producer, Hoagy B Carmichael, said that there had been “issues with a potential investor”.
“It would have been irresponsible to everyone involved in the production to have moved ahead without this vital piece of financing in place,” he said, adding that he hoped to remount the show in London next year.
Carmichael also said around 800 people had booked tickets for the production, which was to be directed by Susan H Schulman, and that they would be able to get a refund from the theatre.
