Clementine and Baltimore.

by Albert Haim

Thanks for posting about "Phonograph Monthly Review." Fascinating contemporaneous reviews.

I was ready to say that the reviewer has impeccable taste until noticed the section about Clementine and Baltimore.

Jean Goldkette plays Clementine to Jack Crawford's coupling of Baltimore on 20994. Crawford is by far the more interesting.

What? "Clementine" is the apex of the Goldkette Victor Recording Orchestra. Listen to the recording and read what Sudhalter has to say about it.

Don't get me wrong. Crawford's "Baltimore" is a good recording, but let's be frank, it cannot be compared with "Clementine." The two recordings are in different leagues.
