In a myth

by Nick Dellow

I assumed (and I admit that I may be completely wrong here) that Brendan Wolfe was making a connection between the myth that seems to envelop Bix in the public psyche and the myth that is also applied to Rock stars who also, in the public image "live fast and die young". When he says "on some level it came from Bix Beiderbecke" I assume he means that such mythology didn't start with rock stars.

As for making "the fallacious argument that Bix influenced all of popular music from the 1930s on" I certainly agree with your points here, and that's why I said "I think Mr Gelly slightly over-eggs his pudding here".
