New Bud Freeman

First, I liked that I'se a Muggin'. Guess it was meant as a party record. You can picture the girls calling out the countdown and doing the patty cake or something. The guys had to work hard back then. That was recorded about the same time as Andy Kirk's version with those precious solos by Dick Wilson and Paul King. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkxoON6az7A

Bud Freeman is on the new Savory Vol 3. Sounding great and clear. There's Fats and some of Bix' cronies present, and amongst others, they do a version of I'm Coming Virginia which feels like a tribute to Bix. Bud's great on that, as is Big T. Brother Charlie does the trumpet, with a couple Bix licks, a few attempts at surprises, but not quite the ringing tone. I really like Bud on the slow blues, Jack Teagarden, too.
