The REALLY underrated Goodman "Body and Soul"

by Mark Gabrish Conlan

This July 1935 "Body and Soul" by the Benny Goodman Trio is a great record, but it's been reissued so often and hailed as a masterpiece so much I'd hardly call it "underrated." Here's Goodman's REALLY underrated "Body and Soul" from almost a decade later (February 4, 1945), also with Teddy Wilson and with Morey Feld on drums. This was from a session set up to record a Goodman sextet, but after running through the song Goodman decided it would work better with just the same three instruments (clarinet, piano and drums) he'd used in 1935: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwRY_adao18
