It just wasn't the same without Bix

The link above to the Gennett recording of "When My Sugar Walks Down the Street" shows off just how much the band lost when Bix left and why its days were numbered. Jimmy McPartland (making his recording debut) plays well but it's just not the same. The spark that Bix brought to the band is sorely missed. And that typically cornball period vocal by Dave Harmon doesn't help either.
