Will Friedwald in http://www.jazz.com/jazz-blog/2009/6/27/diana-krall-at-carnegie-hall reports, "The set varied adroitly between the quartet, the full orchestra, and even two unaccompanied piano solos -both of which, Louisiana and Singin The Blues were obviously aimed at the Bix Beiderbecke fans in the house (the latter directly quoted the famous cornet solo)." Previous piano recordings of these two Bix tunes were done by Armand Hug (Louisiana) and Dick Hyman (Singin' the Blues). In an interview for jazziz, http://www.jazziz.com/interviews/2009/06/17/diana-krall/, Ms. Krall said, "I grew up on Vancouver Island, and in high school, everybody was listening to pop music, as was I. But I was also listening to Fats Waller and Bing Crosby and Ruth Etting and Annette Hanshaw and early Bix Beiderbecke recordings and a lot of other things in my room.
