      All this talk of "getting it right" has got me thinking about the
      1974 version of "The Great Gatsby". I didn't like the movie very much,
      but did spend 2 weeks working as an extra in the party scenes (you've seen pix
      of that, Jamaica!) and one thing that was quite impressive was the attention
      to period detail. All the clothes that were used in the movie were vintage, and as
      far as outfitting the extras, that went for underwear too! No actual alcohol
      was served on the set, of course (the champagne was 7-Up, etc.) so we all
      started carrying flasks to the set, and nipping on real hooch throughout
      the long nights of shooting (generally 6 pm to 6 am) ... which added a
      whole other dimension of "20's realism" to the proceedings!
