      .... in my opinion, lousy. It is unfortunate that soundtracks contemporary to the film have often been lost. Can you imagine Chaplin's "City Lights" with a "modern" soundtrack replacing the original by Charlie Chaplin? My favorite song in the film, and one of my all time favorite songs, is "La Violetera." [My all-time favorite film is "City Lights."]Listen,

      When I was a preschooler and highly reluctant to go with my mother to visit one of her friends, she would entice me by saying, "my friend has a piano and I will play "La Violetera" for you." I liked the song so much that I would go along without complaining.

      "La Violetera" was composed by Jose Padilla. There is a statue of "La Violetera" in the Jardines de Las Vistillas in Madrid,
