      .... in 1928, I believe. On Feb 16, 1929, Tram applied to the Department of Commerce for  pilot's license.

      Bix missed the train for the Nov 11, 1928 engagement of the Whiteman orchestra in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He hired a pilot and a plane and arrived on time.

      The account in the interview about planes and flying seems accurate.
