  • Two jazz classics by Jack Teagarden on Crown

    • Posted Jun 7, 2010 12:28 PM

In Jan 1931, Jack Teagarden and His Orchestra (Charlie Spivak, Sterling Bose, Gil Rodin, Benny Goodman, Eddie Miller, Gil Bowers, Nappy Lamare, Harry Goodman and Ray Bauduc recorded two classics - Carmichaels Rockin Chair and Handys Loveless Love. The two numbers were issued as Crown 3051.

The above roster of musicians is given by Rust. Robert Stockdale writes, Jimmy, not Benny Goodman, as long claimed by some, is on the next session. [The session mentioned above.]

Rockin Chair http://www.jazz-on-line.com/a/ramb/CROC1119-1.ram (Do you think that the arrangement was inspired by that used by Hoagy with Bix in their 1930 recording?)

      Loveless Love  http://www.jazz-on-line.com/a/ramb/CROC1120-2.ram

      Jimmy or Benny?
