Oh, I get his drift but the thought that personality expresses itself even in handwriting troubles those of us with unreadable scrawls. It's not our fault! We try to overcome it! I took up calligraphy which (inevitably) I sought to improve by combining my favorite Gothic and Italic lettering. It's distinctive, all right.

I just remembered something awful one of my children's teachers once said in (I think) a third grade conference. She not only trashed the poor kid's handwriting but observed (I swear): "This sort of problem runs in families."

Has anyone else ever noticed Bill Challis's remarkably exquisite yet eminently readable penmanship? Not frilly. Simply lovely to look at. My first reaction was admiration. My second was, "How long did it take to perfectly articulate each letter and cover the page so evenly?" I wish I'd had an opportunity to observe, time and record the process.
